Having played an entire season of basketball in the classic Air Jordan VIIIs, I can definitely say that they are a solid basketball sneaker and great to play in, except for one major flaw: weight. The VIIIs are just too heavy, and will eventually slow down any player who relies on speed or jumping.

This year, Jordan Brand has decided to give the classic Air Jordan VIII a much needed revamp with the Air Jordan 8.0. One of the most notable changes is the use of lighter materials on the upper, including Nike’s Flywire technology. A fresh new sole has been added as well. Here’s a look at the first five colorways, all scheduled for release in October. Expect more colorways next year, including a Black/Aqua release. What do you think of the Air Jordan 8.0?
