I’m sure many of you remember the University Blue/Black-White Air Jordan IIs that I posted back in January. Before, we only knew that these would release in the summer, but now there’s finally an official release date. The IIs will hit stores on Saturday, July 31. It looks as if these will be a regular release, so I’ve expect to see them in most stores. They will retail for $135. I’d added them to the Air Jordan Release Dates section as a reminder.
For those of you anticipating the re-release of the White/Black-Varsity Red Air Jordan II Retro, it looks like you’re gonna have to wait a little longer. The IIs have been pushed back another three weeks to Saturday, May 22. Better late than never, I guess. If you can’t wait, I’ve got a pair of the 2004 version in size 10.5 listed on ebay right now, along with quite a few other auctions. You can check them out here. Next week, I’ll have a size 12 pair up as well as new auctions, so keep checking!
After a six-year absence, the OG White/Black-Varsity Red Air Jordan II colorway is finally scheduled to make a return. I haven’t seen these in person yet, but they look quite close to the 2004 model from the pics. They will release on May 1, so start saving now!
Air Jordan 2 (II) Retro
Color: White/Black-Varsity Red
Release: 03/11/2010
As many of you are probably aware, a sneaker goes through numerous prototypes before going into production. Thanks to the wonder called the Internet, we are usually given a chance to see these prototypes. Unfortunately, the Net wasn’t around back in the 80s, so many of the earlier prototypes remained secret. Until now.
Here’s a look at an early prototype Air Jordan IIs. The first thing you’ll probably notice is, these don’t really look much like the AJ2s we know at all. In fact they look a lot more like the Air Jordan 1. Something tells me MJ wasn’t quite satisfied with the Is, and sent Nike back to the drawing board after seeing these. Also, notice the Air Jordan symbol has been placed on the side, right in the middle, and the perforated ankle area, possibly to add better breathing. Just shows you how far the IIs came before reaching their final version. If you’d like to get your hands on this incredibly rare sneaker, hit up thecoolshoeshine, he’s selling this very pair on ebay as I type this.
Sneaker Hotline has posted a few more detailed pics of the Air Jordan II “Crocs” that I posted a couple of days ago. I have to admit they look a little better in these pics, but still, not my taste. Anyway enjoy, or at least try to.
Now here’s something unique. It’s bad enough that they made the sneaker dark brown, but then they decided to add crocodile skin to it. If the shoes were black, maybe it would work a little better. Obviously I’m not really feeling these, but I just wanted to show everyone what one of the creative geniuses at Jordan Brand came up with.
No, your eyes aren’t fooling you, its not a bluish tint on the screen, these Air Jordan 2s are actually blue. Jordan Brand has applied its university blue color to the upper of the Air Jordan II to create an all-new color scheme, and surrounded the panels with black accents and matching laces. Expect to see these sometime this summer.
Here’s an up close look at a special pair of Air Jordan 2 Retros, made exclusively for Juwan Howard of the Dallas Mavericks. This pair has a mostly white upper, with a navy on the heels and sockliner, complemented by a 3M strip on the side. “J5”, Howard’s initial and number, has been embroidered on the side.
