Earlier this year, Kobe was seen wearing an all-black version of his latest sneaker, the Nike Kobe 9 Elite. Here’s an up close shot of the sneaker in all its glory. As you can see, it makes use of black mesh, matching laces, and metallic black or pewter accents. Perhaps Nike is waiting for Kobe’s inevitable return to release these. Many of you may remember that 2011 brought us a production version of the Nike Air Mag, designed by sneaker legend Tinker Hatfield. During the sneaker’s promotion, Tinker mentioned plans to create a power lacing version of the Nike Air Mag for 2015, but most people didn’t take this statement to seriously. During this year’s NBA All-Star weekend, Tinker once again, mentioned his promise to bring the Nike Air Mag back for 2015 with a power lacing feature. Considering Tinker’s resume and genius-level design skills, it’s almost guaranteed that he’ll make good on this promise. Stay tuned for more.
Here’s another early look at the upcoming White/Red-Black, or “Chicago” AJKO. Basically a canvas version of the classic Air Jordan 1, the AJKO rarely gets releases, but it looks like we can expect at least one more colorway, like the UNC version posted earlier this month. No release date has been announced yet, but check back for more info on this classic sneaker in the near future.

A couple of weeks ago it was still uncertain as to when or if Jordan Brand actually planned to release the “Bamboo” Air Jordan XX8, but it has finally been confirmed that this sneaker will in fact hit stores. Featuring what looks to be perforated synthetic leather in favor of the usual mesh upper, this colorway is predominantly white in color, with the woodgrain heel and a hint of black on the midsole. The Bamboo Air Jordan XX8 will release on February 16, retailing for the usual price of $250.

Prior to committing Kobe to an endorsement deal, Nike gave the Black Mamba somewhat of a trial run with its sneakers, which also included the Jordan Brand lineup. One those sneakers happened to be this Air Jordan IX player exclusive colorway. Wrapped in a beautiful purple patent leather contrasted with white leather and a matching outsole, gold graphics help to complete the Lakers theme. Kobe’s number “8” at the time was embroidered at the heel. Most likely only a handful of these were actually created. This sample was originally posted on eBay by seller phyuck_yo_kixx, selling for a whopping $55,100!

The AJKO, Jordan Brand’s canvas-based version of the Air Jordan 1 goes back to MJ’s North Carolina roots with this upcoming colorway. The This pair makes use of a white and University Blue upper mated to a matching sole to create a sneaker that takes us back to Tar Heel glory days.
